Privacy Policy — Weather Happiness

Overview
Weather Happiness ("the app", "we", "our") is a weather-aware wellbeing app for iOS. We built it with privacy as a default: your journal entries, mood logs, and day plans never leave your device. This policy explains exactly what we do and do not collect.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Sign in with Apple (optional)
If you choose "Sign in with Apple," Apple provides us with:
- Apple-generated user identifier — a stable, opaque string that identifies your account. Stored locally on your device. Not transmitted to any server we operate.
- Display name — provided by Apple on your first sign-in only. Stored locally so we can greet you. Never sent off-device.
- Email address — your real email or an Apple-relay address. Stored locally. Used only to display your account name. Not used for marketing.
You may also use the app as a guest with no account at all.
1.2 Location
Weather Happiness requests your approximate location (accuracy: ~1 km) to fetch hyper-local weather from Apple's WeatherKit. Your location is used transiently to query WeatherKit, is not stored beyond the fetch, is processed by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy, and is never shared with any advertising or analytics service. Denying permission shows sample/demo weather instead.
1.3 Purchases
Weather Happiness Premium subscriptions are managed entirely by Apple via the App Store. We use StoreKit 2 to verify your entitlement locally on your device. We do not operate a payment server or store payment details.
1.4 Health Data (optional)
If you choose to connect Apple Health in the Mind tab, Weather Happiness reads:
- Step count — daily total from HealthKit.
- Sleep hours — time asleep last night from HealthKit sleep analysis.
- Active energy burned — daily total from HealthKit.
This data is:
- Read-only. Weather Happiness never writes to Apple Health.
- On-device only. Health data is used solely to compute local correlations (e.g. "steps on cloudy vs clear days") and is never transmitted to any server.
- Opt-in. You must tap "Enable Apple Health" in the Mind tab before any Health data is accessed. You can revoke access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Weather Happiness.
1.5 What We Do NOT Collect
The following is created and stored exclusively on your device (Apple SwiftData) and is never transmitted to us or any third party:
- Mood & energy logs (Mind tab) — ratings, notes, and weather context.
- Day plans & journal entries (Days tab) — dates, weather, places, food, outfits, notes, moods.
- Theme preference — stored locally.
Deleting the app permanently removes all of this data.

We do not use Google Analytics, Firebase, Crashlytics, advertising SDKs, or data brokers.
3. Data Retention
On-device data persists until you delete the app or use "Sign Out" (which clears the auth session but preserves journal/mood data). Purchase records are retained by Apple per Apple's policies. See Section 4 for account deletion.
4. Account Deletion
You can delete your Weather Happiness account in-app at any time (account menu → Delete Account). This permanently deletes all locally stored data (mood logs, day plans, theme preference) and clears your sign-in session. To also revoke Weather Happiness's access to your Apple ID, go to Settings → your name → Sign in with Apple → Weather Happiness → Stop Using Apple ID.
5. Children's Privacy
Weather Happiness is not directed at children under 13 (under 16 in the EU/EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
6. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)
- Access / Portability — all data is on your device; the Premium "Export Day" feature gives you a portable copy of plans.
- Deletion — delete the app, or use in-app Delete Account, to remove all on-device data.
- Correction — edit your data directly in the app.
- Tracking — Weather Happiness does not track you; no action needed.
For CCPA: we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
7. Security
Data is stored on-device via SwiftData and iOS file protection. Apple credentials are handled entirely by Apple's AuthenticationServices framework. We operate no server that stores your personal data.
